Crash leaves man dead, wife in critical condition

RED BANK – Following a car crash on Maple Avenue, one Long Branch resident is dead and another one is listed in critical condition.

According to a release from the Red Bank Police Department, Murray Habermann, 75, of Long Branch, was traveling south on Maple Avenue with his wife, Evelyn, 69, April 23 when his vehicle left the roadway.

The vehicle traveled several hundred feet before colliding with a pole supporting power lines for NJ Transit trains.

Habermann was transported to Riverview Medical Center and died at 3:25 a.m. Sunday.

Evelyn Habermann was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit following the crash and is listed in critical condition.
