A story about Sea Bright’s new municipal prosecutor published in the Feb. 10 issue incorrectly stated that outgoing Borough Prosecutor James Butler was appointed to that post one year ago.
Butler was actually appointed to that post on Jan. 1, 2001, by former Sea Bright Mayor Gregory Harquail.
In the same story, a statement attributed to council President Maria Fernandes indicated that John Lane, who was appointed as Sea Bright’s new borough prosecutor on Feb. 1, had disqualified an absentee ballot filed by the councilwoman’s grandmother during the recount of a contested municipal election six years ago due to an illegible signature.
According to Fernandes, the ballot filed by her grandmother, who was not ailing as stated, was selected at random to be challenged by Lane, the attorney representing the Monmouth County Republican Party during the recount.
