Matawan resident given Rotary’s highest honors
The Community YMCA, Red Bank, has announced that Jim Murray, vice president of special projects was recently recognized by the Rotary Club of Matawan with The Paul Harris Fellow Award.
The award is the highest honor a Rotarian can receive; it recognizes the recipient’s longstanding contribution of personal time and effort to the Rotary Club and the community.
"Jim has brought so much to the club in terms of serving within the club’s organization in addition to his personal efforts to support and benefit the community," said Jeff Donoghue, past district governor of the Rotary Club of Matawan.
"He exemplifies the principle of the Rotary — ‘service above self,’ " he continued. The award, named for Rotary founder Paul Harris, was created to show appreciation for contributions made in an individual’s name to the Rotary Foundation’s charitable and educational programs.
