The ninth annual Rovers International "Superskills" Winter Indoor Soccer Academy for boys and girls, ages 4-14, will kick off on Dec. 3 at GoodSports USA in Aberdeen. The academy runs on Saturday mornings for seven weeks. Session one will run from 8:10 – 9:55 a.m. (ages 8-14). Ages 4 and 5 will attend an 8:10-9:10 a.m. class. Session two will be held from 10:05-11:50 a.m. (ages 5-12). Space is limited, and players will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The Lincroft Shock, a 9-and-under travel team from Lincroft, defeated the North Wall Wildcats 4-3 in the championship game of the United States Amateur Baseball League fall season held at the Lincroft Little League field on Nov. 11. The Shock, playing in its first year as a team, compiled a record of 12-1 on their way to the championship. Strong pitching and great defense keyed the victory. Lincroft held a 4-1 lead going into the top of the sixth inning when Wall scored 2 quick runs to close to 4-3. But the Shock shut the door for the win.

The Shock defeated teams from Wall, Howell, Lacey and Jackson along the way. Team members are Darrin Alcolea, John Altino, Brian Gowen, Erik Hogan, Robert Dill, Mickey Grilli, Patrick O’Donnell Craig Sweeney, Jeff Cangialosi, Ken Patterson, Tyler Cotterell and Steven McSherry. Coaches are Mike Hogan, Al Altino, and Ben Grilli.
