Zoning change sought for Hudson Ave. homes

RED BANK – Three properties currently zoned as business and commercial will be restored to residential zoning under an ordinance proposed by Mayor Pasquale Menna at the borough’s Aug. 27 council meeting.

Menna would amend the borough planning and development regulations to restore residential zoning for three lots located on Hudson Avenue near the intersection of Harding Road.

The properties had been rezoned from residential to business and commercial (CCD-1) and are single-family homes, he said.

Menna said the amendment would change those block numbers back to RA, single-family residential zoning so that the entire street would be zoned as single family residences.

“I spoke to all of those individuals and they’re ecstatic that they want to keep their single-family homes and they don’t want a business creeping in next to them,” said Menna at the council meeting. “And it’s not spot zoning because we are actually making it consistent with everything else on the street.”

The public hearing for the ordinance will be Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
