Last week, several Red Bank businesses reported break-ins, and many of those businesses had similar pry marks at rear entrances.
On July 7 police received a report that a restaurant on Bridge Avenue was broken into by unknown persons, who had forced open its doors and took cash, candles, a bottle of wine, a food scale and an antique mirror.
Between July 11 and 12, it was reported that the rear door of a business on Monmouth Street had been pried open. The safe had been taken and the cash register was pried open.
The owner of a business at 2-4 West Front Street reported that the rear door to the business had been pried open, and entry had been gained to the basement. Nothing was reported stolen. Two other businesses at that location also reported an attempt to gain entry.
On July 11, there were three attempted burglaries at 30 Monmouth St., the courtyard at The Dublin House. The following evening, three more burglaries were attempted at the same address. The suspect was unable to gain entry, but there were pry marks left on the front doors, similar to resulting from the burglary attempts at 2-4 West Front Street.
According to Lt. Stephen McCarthy of the Red Bank Police Department, an arrest was made on Thursday of last week in connection with the attempted burglaries at 30 Monmouth St. and West Front Street.
Janice Rogers, 48, Fair Haven, was arrested and charged with nine counts of attempted burglaries and criminal mischief. She was scheduled to appear in court on July 22, and, because of the indictable nature of the charges, police said her case will be forwarded to state Superior Court in Freehold Borough. She was released pending her initial appearance in Red Bank Municipal Court.
Information leading to her arrest was received from the Shrewsbury Police Department, where the arrest was made.
There is no indication that Rogers was involved in any of the burglaries aside from the attempts at 30 Monmouth Street and 2-4 West Front Street.
