IRS seeking volunteers for VITA, TCE programs

The Internal Revenue Service is seeking volunteers for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs for the tax-filing season.

Volunteers help fill out tax returns for older taxpayers, individuals with disabilities, and non-English-speaking and other individuals who cannot afford professional assistance. The IRS provides volunteers with free instruction and all materials needed to prepare basic income tax returns. Volunteers are also needed to help organize sites, instruct classes, review returns prepared at the sites, and publicity.

For more information, call Stephen M. Savage, IRS New Jersey VITA/TCE coordinator, at (973) 645-3853; or e-mail at [email protected].
