The Monmouth County Arts Council (MCAC) has announced the winners of its 2002 Arts Education Awards, established to highlight outstanding arts education for grades K-12.
The Arts Educator Award went to Vincent Borelli of Long Branch High School. Roosevelt Public School, Roosevelt, and Cedar Drive School, Colts Neck in which they were recognized for creative use of arts within the school environment.
Borelli is the performing arts director of Long Branch High School, providing an atmosphere of creativity for the past 25 years.
Roosevelt Public School is located in a community with more artists per capita than any other town in the state. It also has a school building listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Cedar Drive is best known for its band program, but is encouraged its students to be part of arts experiences such as the school musical, talent show, improvisational dance, and band and choir programs.
