The American Red Cross will sponsor a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 22 at Monroe Village, One David Brainerd Drive, Monroe. Giving blood can aid in situations such as organ transplants, burn and cancer care, treatment of patients with sickle cell disease and in treating premature infants. Donors, who must be at least 17 years of age, are requested to bring a form of identification. Those age 17 must bring a signed Red Cross parental permission slip. special needs seminar

The New Jersey State Bar Foundation will present a seminar on "Special Needs, Trusts and Guardianships for People With Serious Disabilities and Mental Illness" from 7-9 p.m. on Jan. 9 at the New Jersey Law Center, One Constitution Square, off Ryders Lane, New Brunswick.

Topics will include government benefits, common estate planning errors, estate tax concerns and guardianships. A question-and-answer period will follow the presentations.

The seminar is free and open to the public. Advance registration is required.

O.B. theater group sets

‘Wizard of Oz’ auditions

The Theatre Guild of Old Bridge will hold open auditions for its March production of The Wizard of Oz on Jan. 7, 8 and 9 at Old Bridge High School east campus, Route 516.

Tryouts for the roles of Dorothy (open to ages 14-20) and the Munchkins (male or female, ages 8-13) only are set for 6-9:30 p.m. on Jan. 7. Adult auditions will take place from 7:30-10 p.m. on Jan. 8 and 9.

Participants should be prepared to sing and dance. Young women auditioning for Dorothy should be prepared to sing Over the Rainbow.

Board Game Club to

meet at O.B. Library

The Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, will hold the next meeting of its new Board Game Club from noon to 3 p.m. on Jan. 19.

The new club will concentrate on classic board games, but community members are welcome to bring in a wide variety of games for everyone to try.

Individuals of all ages are invited to attend. The library asks that participants bring their own games, if possible.
