Mr. Kiernan, 77, of Sayreville, died Feb. 23, 2011, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Carter and Joanmarie Harrison, and a brother, Owen Kiernan. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Carroll Kiernan; three daughters, Sharon White, Susan Kiernan and Carolyn Grocki, and her husband, John; a son, James Kiernan, and his wife, Laura; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
