Obituaries Alfred P. Young

Mr. Young, 57, of South River, formerly of Old Bridge, died Nov. 16 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his mother, Sarah E. Dill Young of Jackson; a sister, Sarah E. Berendt of Manalapan; several nieces and nephews; and his companion, Arlene McGuire. Graveside services were held at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.

Margaret A. Layden Mundy

Mrs. Mundy, 81, of South Amboy died Nov. 27 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Raymond Mundy, died in 1995. Surviving are a son, Paul Mundy of South Amboy; three daughters, Peggy Gorman and Anne Kukulski, both of South Amboy, and Laura Fosselman of Hattiesburg, Miss.; a brother, Paul Layden of Woodbridge; and nine grandchildren. A requiem Eucharist was offered at Christ Episcopal Church, South Amboy. Interment was in the church cemetery. Ronald J. Glenn

Mr. Glenn, 75, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, formerly of Old Bridge, died Nov. 25 in Amboy Care Center, Perth Amboy. His first wife, Adeline Trombino Glenn, died in 1985. Surviving are his wife, Alice Carabotta Glenn; two sons, Paul Glenn of Bethlehem, Pa., and Ronald J. Glenn Jr. of Easton, Pa.; two daughters, Kathleen Glenn of the Iselin section of Woodbridge and Mary Anne Hall of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Barrett Glenn of California and George Glenn of Texas; three sisters, Harriet Jefferies of Middletown, Glenda Nielson of Maine and Amelia Margiotta of Staten Island, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.

Robert J. Gibbs

Mr. Gibbs, 73, of West Milford, formerly of Hazlet, died Nov. 29 in JFK Hospice, Edison. His wife, Therese D. Lynch Gibbs, died in 1993. Surviving are three sons, Robert V. Gibbs of San Diego, Calif., Gregory C. Gibbs of Jackson and Thomas P. Gibbs of Claysburg, Pa.; a daughter, Therese M. Heger of West Milford; two sisters, Frances Curtin of Parsippany and Carol Oberdeck of Metuchen; a brother, John Briody of the Parlin section of Sayreville; and seven grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Family Church, Union Beach. Interment was in Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

Arthur D. Clare

Mr. Clare, 74, of Old Bridge died Nov. 25 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are his wife, Alice; two sons, Stephen of Jackson and David of Old Bridge; and four grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, DeBow Chapel, Jackson.

Dagny Refstrup

Mrs. Refstrup, 85, of South River died Nov. 20 in Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Surviving are a sister, Anna, and a brother, Otto, both of Denmark; two sis­ters-in-law, Maria Refstrup of Edison and Laura Jensen of South River; and three nephews, Brian Wilson, Tyler Wilson and Guy Williams. Services were held at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.

Helen Nugent Dubil

Mrs. Dubil, 78, of Sayreville died Nov. 28 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. A son, Gary, died in 1960, and another son, Michael F., died in 1997. Surviving are her husband, Michael Dubil, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin sec­tion of Sayreville.

Charles M. Diffin

Mr. Diffin, 85, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Dec. 1 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Julia; three sons, Michael of Dallas, Peter of the Toms River section of Dover and Gregory of Sayreville; two sisters, Millie Watson and Lillian Williams, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. Services are planned for 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 5 at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.

Cosimo "Chubby" J. Zangara

Mr. Zangara, 71, of East Brunswick died Nov. 30 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New Brunswick, he resided there before moving to East Brunswick 39 years ago. He was a sheet metal mechanic at Local No. 27, Sheet Metal Workers, Farmingdale, for several years, retiring nine years ago. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Claire Aaroe Zangara of East Brunswick; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gary Zangara of Robbinsville, and Louis and Colleen of Upper St. Claire, Pa.; three brothers, Matthew Zangara of East Brunswick, Dominick Zangara of North Brunswick, and Joseph Zangara of Lawrenceville; two sisters, Mary Bonanne of North Brunswick, and Josephine Wadsworth of East Brunswick; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. Arrangements were by The Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Entombment was at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial do­nations may be made to The American Cancer Society, 846 Main St., Fords, 08863.

Ludmila Kalinowski Machniuk

Mrs. Machniuk, 71, of Jamesburg, for­merly of South River and Monroe, died Nov. 25 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are her husband, Oleg Machniuk; two daughters, Nonna Azarko of the Somerset section of Franklin and Alicia DiCosmo of the Colonia section of Woodbridge; a sister, Leonila Tatum of Cape Coral, Fla.; a brother, Oleg Kalinowski, also of Cape Coral; and two grandsons. A service was held at St. Euphrosynia Belarus Orthodox Church, South River. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Josephine Frances "Micki" Febinger

Mrs. Febinger, 79, of Helmetta, for­merly of East Brunswick, died Nov. 28 at home. Surviving are three sons, Edward J. Febinger, with whom she lived, Gilbert L. Febinger of East Brunswick and Keith Febinger of Middlesex; two daughters, Jody Gamble of North Brunswick and Wilda Bleakley of Ewing; a sister, Elizabeth VanLiew of Goose Creek, S.C.; 15 grand­children; and 11 great-grandchildren; and Edward G. Febinger. A service was held at East Brunswick Baptist Church. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
