Mr. Furey, of Matawan, died May 30, 2008, in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was predeceased by a son, John J. Furey Jr., in 1986, and by a granddaughter, Nicole Jo Furey, in 1995. Surviving are his wife, Gloria Esposito Furey; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas P. and Lisa Furey of Old Bridge and Gary J. and Dawn Furey of New York City; and five grandchildren. A Mass was celebrated at St. Benedict’s Church, Holmdel. Arrangements were under the direction of Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
