Two Monmouth County men have been indicted on numerous charges linked to burglaries and thefts that occurred in several municipalities across the county from April to June, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Zachariah T. Famula, 26, of Manalapan, and Eugene A. Reeves, 27, of Freehold Township, were indicted on Sept. 24.
Famula has been charged with 22 counts of burglary, 23 counts of theft of movable property, one count of receiving stolen property and one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Reeves has been charged with 20 counts of burglary and 22 counts of theft of movable property.
Beginning in late April and continuing until the end of June, Famula and Reeves allegedly stolen landscaping equipment and tools from dozens of properties in Millstone Township, Upper Freehold Township, Freehold Township, Manalapan, Marlboro and Howell, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Reeves was arrested in June and initially charged with burglary, theft, possession of a hypodermic syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Famula was arrested in June and initially charged with burglary and theft.
Authorities allege Reeves and Famula sold the items they stole in New Jersey at a pawn shop in Bucks County, Pa., according to Charles Webster, a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office.
In Millstone Township between April 23 and May 15, Reeves and Famula are charged with five counts of burglary. Authorities allege they unlawfully entered sheds and a porch.
The two men are also being charged in Millstone Township with six counts of theft of movable property. They allegedly stole a backpack blower, three power washers, a generator, one cordless saw, a drill, an air compressor and a leaf blower from several properties. The total value of the items was placed at approximately $3,700.
In Upper Freehold Township, Reeves and Famula allegedly committed the crimes of burglary and theft between May 16 and June 10.
They are being charged with five counts of burglary by unlawfully entering four sheds on separate properties and one detached garage.
Reeves and Famula were indicted on four counts of theft of movable property in Upper Freehold Township by unlawfully taking a weed wacker, a grass trimmer, two power washers, five chainsaws and other items from several properties. The total value of the items was placed at approximately $5,500.
In Freehold Township between April 19 and June 25, Reeves and Famula are being charged with three counts of burglary for unlawfully entering three sheds on three properties and five counts of theft of movable property. The two men allegedly took trimmers, saws, a backpack blower, leaf blowers, two generators, copper piping and other tools from several properties. The total value of the items was placed at approximately $6,450.
From May 17 to May 20 in Manalapan, Reeves and Famula are charged with one count of burglary and one count of theft of movable property. Authorities said the two men unlawfully entered a shed and took hedge trimmers, a chainsaw and blowers. The total value of the items was placed at approximately $4,000.
Between June 18-19, Famula allegedly went to Marlboro alone, and he was indicted on one charge of burglary by entering three trailers belonging to a landscaping company. On June 19, he was charged with receiving stolen property belonging to the same landscaping company — five trimmers, three blowers and a chainsaw. The total value of the items was placed at approximately $3,000.
In Howell, Famula and Reeves are charged with seven counts of burglary for unlawfully entering a shed, landscape trailers and detached garages on separate properties. The two men are also charged with seven counts of theft of movable property for allegedly taking tools from separate properties. The total value of the items was placed at approximately $19,800.
Famula was indicted on a charge of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (suboxone) based on charges for that offense, which were lodged against him on June 19.
