American military personnel who died in the service of their nation will be honored during Memorial Day activities on May 25.
For the 56th consecutive year, Jackson will hold a Memorial Day parade and memorial services.
The parade is hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4703, Jackson, and sponsored by the Jackson Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local 168. The event will feature floats and marching units from area organizations.
Parade participants will line up at 9 a.m. May 25 at Jackson Memorial High School. The parade will step off at 10 a.m.
The parade will travel north on Don Connor Boulevard and turn left onto West Veterans Highway. The parade will then enter the Jackson Justice Complex.
Don Connor Boulevard and West Veterans Highway, between Leesville Road and Thompson Bridge Road, will be closed to traffic during the parade.
At the conclusion of the parade, a memorial service to honor those who died while fighting in the nation’s wars will be held at the veterans monument in the justice complex.
A picnic at the VFW post, 54 Magnolia Drive, will be held after the ceremonies at the justice complex.
In Plumsted, the annual Memorial Day parade will get underway at 1 p.m. May 25. The route will take participants from North Main Street at Bright Road to Main Street, Jacobstown Road and Meadowbrook Lane.
Following the parade, the American Legion, Meadowbrook Lane, in conjunction with other organizations, will host Memorial Day services.
Also on May 25, Memorial Day services will be held in Howell and in Farmingdale prior to the annual Memorial Day parade in Farmingdale.
Services will be held by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9691 and its Ladies Auxiliary, and by Farmingdale American Legion Post 178.
At 11 a.m., there will be a service at Howell’s former municipal complex on Preventorium Road.
At 11:30 a.m., there will be a service at Lutz Park, 11 Asbury Ave., Farmingdale.
The parade will begin at 1 p.m. at the Farmingdale Public School, Academy Street, and travel down Main Street.
The parade will feature the Howell High School Marching Band, the Christian Brothers Pipes and Drums and the Monmouth County Police and Fire Pipes and Drums.
