HOWELL — An arrest has been made in the wake of an assault that began as a road rage incident and ended inside a Dunkin’Donuts store on Route 9 south near West Farms Road.
Wayne Wyckoff, 42, of Howell, was charged with aggravated assault on Sept. 28. Police charged him in connection with a Sept. 16 incident in which he allegedly fought with a 25-year-old man and struck him with a chair.
Howell police Detective Anthony Romano reported that a road rage incident involving Wyckoff and the 25-year-old man took place on Route 9 south.
Romano said Wyckoff allegedly followed the man into the Dunkin’ Donuts to confront him. A confrontation occurred inside the store, and Wyckoff fled the scene before police officers arrived.
The detective said an individual identified Wyckoff after police released surveillance images from the Dunkin’ Donuts.
Following his arrest, Wyckoff was processed and released on his own recognizance.
The 25-year-old man who was injured in the fracas was treated at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, and released.
