Gertner, Mandel & Peslak Law Firm has been named corporate chair of Walk to Cure Diabetes. Each year, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) encourages supporters to participate in Walk to Cure Diabetes, a fundraiser especially for those suffering from type 1 diabetes. The hope of JDRF is to raise enough money to fund research for an artificial pancreas.
Ross Gertner and his wife, Lisa, whose son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at age 9, have been staunch supporters of Walk to Cure Diabetes for 14 years. Their son is now 24 years old.
Gertner said, “We have no diabetes in either my family or my wife’s, so it was a total shock when our son was diagnosed. From an early age, he has had a lot to deal with.”
Gertner Mandel & Peslak, with offices in Jackson and Wall Township, has been named the 2011 corporate chair of Walk to Cure Diabetes. Walk to Cure Diabetes, a 5K walk, will take place on Oct. 2, rain or shine, on the north end of the boardwalk in Seaside Heights at Carteret Avenue. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk starts at 10 a.m. To join the Gertner Mandel & Peslak “walk team” or for more information about the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, call Susan at 732-363-3333.
