Mrs. Lester, 80, of Freehold, died Dec. 31, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was born in Swainsboro, Ga., and had resided in Freehold for 40 years. Mrs. Lester was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freehold, where she served as an usher and was also involved with the kitchen committee. Surviving are three sons, Carl Lester, Victor Ballard and Kenneth Lester, all of Jackson; five daughters, Mary Ann Lester and Katie Lester, both of Freehold, BessieAbou ElAsaad of Edgewater Park, Evelyn Lester of Neptune and Jeanette Perry of Lancaster, Calif.; a brother, Fred Jackson of Trenton; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
