Albert Ley

Mr. Ley, 91, of South Plainfield, died April 10 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Born in Newark, he had lived in South Plainfield for most of his life. Before retiring in 1973, Mr. Ley was a lineman for New Jersey Bell Telephone Co., Plainfield, for 39 years, and was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was predeceased in 1999 by his wife, Lillian Mae “Gretchen” (née Smith) Ley. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Moore of Bethlehem, Pa., and June Adolfsen of Howell; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Cremation was private.

Charles Aitolo

Mr. Aitolo, 91, of Jackson, died April 12 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Freehold Township and Union before moving to Jackson. He was a tailor and presser for the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union, Local No. 135, Newark. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a chef during World War II. Mr. Aitolo was predeceased in 1988 by his wife, Katherine Aitolo. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Dennis Schar, with whom he had lived; a brother, Albert Aitolo of North Glen, Colo.; two sisters, Connie Valinoti of Bethlehem, Pa., and Josephine Attardi of Florida; three granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; a niece; and a great-niece and great-nephew. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to tsunami relief.

Isaiah Matthew Albert

Mr. Albert, 86, of Covered Bridge II, Manalapan, died April 3 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Malden, Mass., he had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan 25 years ago. He owned his own bread route and a launderette in Brooklyn. For more than 20 years, he worked as a mechanic in the sheet-metal industry, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and an active volunteer for both Hadassah and the Deborah Hospital Foundation. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Albert; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Barry Nusbacher of Lakewood and Jackie and Steve Weinerman of Edison; four grandchildren, Carrie (Larry) Gold of Marlboro, Jaimee Nusbacher, Sherri (Zev) Ben-Moritz and Richard (Felisa) Weinerman; and four great-grandchildren. Services were held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, followed by entombment at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah, Paramus. Shiva was observed at the Gold residence. Alfred Marsh

Mr. Marsh, of Howell, died April 4 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Alfred Marsh. Surviving are a sister, Elaine Clarkin of Old Bridge; a niece, Kim Luczkow of Spotswood; two great nieces, Lara and Marissa of Spotswood; a great-nephew, Daniel McCoy of Barnegat; and three great-great-nieces and a great-great-nephew.
