Mr. O’Brien, 61, of Howell, died Jan. 25, 2013, at home. He was employed as a teacher for 40 years by the Howell K-8 School District Board of Education, currently as a seventh grade social studies teacher at Howell Middle School North. He was currently serving as the Howell Township Education Association president, as an HTEA representative of the Monmouth County Representative Council, as a member of the New Jersey Education Association Delegate Assembly and as an officer in the Monmouth County Education Association. He was predeceased by a son, Liam Davis O’Brien. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Justine Ann O’Brien; a son, William Justin O’Brien; his mother, Elizabeth A. O’Brien of West Boylston, Mass.; five brothers, Daniel O’Brien of Tampa, Fla., James O’Brien of Lula, Ga., Michael O’Brien of West Boylston, Mass., Sean O’Brien of Putnam, Conn., and Brendan O’Brien of West Boylston, Mass.; two sisters, Patricia Powers of Geneva, Ill., and Bridgid March of Charlton, Mass. A funeral service was held at the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, Jackson. A service will also be held at a later date in North Cemetery, Oxford, Mass.
