Dr. Barnes. 87, of Jackson, died Aug. 7, 2012, after a long illness. He was a graduate of Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, and earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1946. Following six years in private practice, he pursued a 25-year research and development career, returning to private practice in 1981. Prior to retiring in 1991, he was an inspector for the U.S.D.A. In 1992, he was the veterinarian for the Ocean County Animal Shelter in Jackson. Surviving are his wife, Paula Morrone Barnes; four children, Kathryn, Michele, Douglas and Kevin; three stepchildren, Larry, Timothy and Carolyn; a brother, James; and 12 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson. Arrangements were by the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, Jackson.
