Thomas Grover Blend

Mr. Blend, 59, formerly of Woodbridge, died Aug. 5, 2012, in Florida. Born in Perth Amboy, he had resided in Woodbridge before moving to Venice, Fla., in 2005. He attended Middlesex County College, Edison, and the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. Mr. Blend was employed as a robotics engineer for the Ford Motor Co., Edison. He also worked as a master electrician and, after retirement, as a seafaring captain with various commercial vessel ratings. He was predeceased by his wife, Linda Breita Blend. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Heather Rose Florence Algarin and Andres Algarin of Westampton; a son, Charles Blend of South Brunswick; his parents, Grover and Patricia Harned Blend of Lanoka Harbor; seven siblings and five spouses, Susan Ganser of Denver, Jane and John Marshall of Melrose Park, Pa., Collis Blend of South Plainfield, Amy Blend-Burak and Steve Burak of Barnegat, Carleton and Robyn Blend of Sayreville, Jennifer and Gary Lambert of Howell, and Frederick and Jennifer Blend of Maryville, Tenn.; a granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held at the Gerity and Chubenko Funeral Home, Woodbridge, followed by interment at Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy.
