pick of the week  37th Annual Friends of Clearwater Festival

The 2012 Clearwater Festival, a free, family-friendly celebration of the earth’s resources with live music, food, and environmental exhibits, rolls into shady Sunset Park in Asbury Park on Aug. 11. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m, rain or shine.

The Clearwater Festival is sponsored by the nonprofit New Jersey Friends of Clearwater, founded in the 1970s to promote awareness and protection of natural resources.

More than a dozen environmental organizations, including Clean Ocean Action, the Sierra Club Jersey Shore, N.J. departments of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Surfrider Foundation, Citizens for Wesley Lake, EarthShare, and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will be represented.
