The Rev. Brindley, 81, of Brick Township, died May 31, 2012. He was born in Spring Lake and graduated from Manasquan High School. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, he attended Bethany Bible College and Philadelphia College of the Bible. He then served as the founding pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Glendola (Wall Township) for more than 40 years. He retired in 1997 and became pastor emeritus at CrossPoint Baptist Church in Farmingdale. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Mildred Brindley; four sons, the Rev. Melvin Brindley Jr. of Chestertown, Md., James Brindley of New Castle, Del., the Rev. Daniel Brindley of Jackson, and Timothy Brindley of Conway, S.C.; a daughter, Karen Savannah of Milesberg, Pa.; a brother, Kenneth Brindley of Brick; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Afuneral service was held at the Cross- Point Baptist Church, Farmingdale, followed by interment at the Brig. Gen. Willliam C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.
