Mr. Rumola, 60, of Conway, S.C., formerly of Freehold, died Oct. 1, 2011, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C. He earned a master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and was also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the West Point Leadership and Command School. Mr. Rumola was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. In 2002, he retired as a police captain from the Manalapan Police Department after 27 years of service. Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Kathleen Carbley Rumola; a daughter, MaryEllen Rumola of Shrewsbury; a son, Michael P. Rumola and his wife, Brittney, of Lacey; a sister, Margaret Rittenhouse and her husband, Richard Rittenhouse, of Lindenhurst, N.Y.; a brother, James Rumola of Howell; and three grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 21 at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. A repass will follow at the American Legion, 11 Sanford St., Manalapan.
