Newspaper article highlights need for local volunteers

Ihave read your newspaper regularly and would like to give a thank you for your articles and pictures on “Volunteer Opportunities Abound” by Dave Benjamin (Tri-Town News, Feb. 5, 2009).

As part of the Dr. Martin Luther King birthday celebration at the Jackson library, our Cornerstone Presbyterian Church of Jackson had a display on our volunteer ministries.

Your coverage resulted in people coming forward to lend their hands to help people in need, in particular our Ministry with the Deaf.

Without your article and pictures, people in the Jackson-Howell area would never have known of the opportunities to share their talents with our emphasis on “Cornerstone Cares.”

In this time when finances are low, volunteer help becomes all the more vital. Without volunteers, many people would not have the essential services to survive. Thank you again for lifting up these services and needs of our community.
