Greater Media New Jersey Radio Station 95.9 WRAT-FM (“The Rat”) will conduct a Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament at the Jersey Shore’s fourth annual Men’s Expo to be held 1-6 p.m. Jan. 24 at Asbury Park Convention Hall, on the Asbury Park boardwalk, Ocean Avenue between Fifth and Sunset. Admission and parking are free.
At this tournament, contestants can exercise their poker skills in a casual setting and compete for the coveted winner’s bracelet.
Players will be chosen at random from entries obtained online at www.wrat.com. Another 20 contestants, hoping to win a seat in the tournament at the start of the event, should arrive at Convention Hall by 2 p.m.
Attendees can also enjoy other competitions and special events, such as Guitar Hero and a Rock, Paper, Scissor tournament. Special events will include playing Nine Ball against World Class Pool Champion Jennifer Barretta; meeting and getting an autograph from past Penthouse Playmate Victoria Zdrok (“Dr. Z the Sexpert”) and Playboy model Daniela Victoria; and meeting UFC Lightweight contender Kurt Pellegrino, who will sign autographs.
Attendees can see two lingerie shows on stage, courtesy of Linger in Spring Lake; sample a few craft beers in the Craft Beer Garden; have their golf swing analyzed courtesy of golf pro Mike Atara from Eagle Ridge Golf Club; and play Wii Home Run Derby with the Lakewood BlueClaws, among other activities.
Vendors will be on site and WRAT morning host Carl Craft will be conducting games for prizes, such as Rock, Paper, Scissor and Music Chair Scavenger Hunt, among others. Food and beverages will be available.
Craft, who is WRAT’s operations manager, said, “This is going to be a fun event for guys of all ages. I’m really excited to be back in Asbury Park with the event this year. The town has always had a great vibe for rock and roll events, and it’s only getting better. Whether it’s testing your poker skills, or meeting a pinup, or grabbing a cold one, it promises to be a fun event!”
Doug Sjonvall, WRAT promotion director, said, “These days, where else can you get entertainment outside the house for free? It’s a great way to spend the afternoon when there is no football or baseball.”
