Mr. Howard, 46, of Ashland, Mass., formerly of Framingham, Mass., and Lakewood, died April 17 at home. Born in Henderson, N.C., he was raised in New Jersey by the late William Howard and Susie B. Terrell and had lived in Massachusetts for many years. A graduate of Lakewood High School, he received a bachelor of science degree from Princeton University, a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, and a doctoral degree from the University of California, Berkeley. For many years, he was a senior communications consultant throughout the United States. He had also served as vice president at Porter Novelle Co., Boston, and most recently, had formed his own public relations firm. An avid reader, he enjoyed tennis, golf, swimming, running and basketball. He was predeceased by a sister, Carol Howard. Surviving are four brothers, Willie Howard Jr. and Theodore Howard, both of Lakewood, George Howard of Howell and Samuel Howard of Asbury Park; two sisters, Annie C. Philomena Casella
Mrs. Casella, 77, of Howell died April 20 at Atlantic Coast Rehabilitation, Lakewood. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived there before moving to Howell 40 years ago. She was a homemaker and a parishioner of St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lakewood. She was predeceased in 2002 by her husband, Stephen. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Edna Casella of Howell; a daughter, Janet Zerilli of Howell; and a sister, Dolores Ninnivaggio of Brooklyn. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Veronica’s Roman Catholic Church, Howell, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. C.H.T. George Simonow
Mr. Simonow, 77, of Howell died April 7 at Fountain View Care Center, Lakewood. Born in Yugoslavia, he had lived in Manhattan, N.Y., before moving to Howell three years ago. He was a member of St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Church, Howell. Surviving are his former wife, Natalie Simonow of Howell; a son and daughter-in-law, Boris and Doreen Simonow of Howell; and three granddaughters. Mr. Paulin, 60, of Jackson died April 21 at home. Born in Perth Amboy, he had lived in Middletown for most of his life and had resided in Brick before moving one year ago to Jackson. Prior to retiring in 2002, he was a self-employed building contractor for many years. He had served in the United States Army and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Leonardo. He was predeceased by his father, Casimir Paulin. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Gloria (Bauer) Paulin; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Charles Woodley of Brick; two sons, Frank J. and Michael Paulin, both of Brick; his mother, Dorothy Paulin; two brothers, Leonard and Robert Paulin, both of Middletown; and two grandchildren. Margaret R. Troyano DeStefano
Mrs. DeStefano, 92, of Fords died April 22 at home. Born in New York City, she had lived in South Amboy before moving to Fords in 1950. Prior to retiring in 1969, she was employed as a seamstress for several area clothing manufacturers, including the Princeton Shirt Factory, Hopelawn. She was a member of Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Hopelawn. Mrs. DeStefano was predeceased by her husband, Angelo F. DeStefano, in 1996; two sisters, Anna and Josephine Troyano; and four brothers, Benedict, Domonic, John and Albert Troyano. Surviving are a son, Dr. Francis V. DeStefano of Fords; two daughters, Stella L. Siano and Catherine J. DeStefano, both of Jackson; a sister, Angelina Inzano of Somerset; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Most Holy Rosary Church, followed by entombment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Dorothy Pearlman
Mrs. Pearlman, 83, of Howell died April 22 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had resided in the Freehold area for more than 50 years before moving to Howell 15 years ago. She was employed as a clerk in Monmouth County’s election department for 34 years prior to retiring in 1995. She was predeceased in 1971 by her husband, Bennett. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl Pearlman of Howell, and Susan and William Arace of Freehold Township; two brothers, Arnold Rothman of Wilmington, N.Y., and Arthur Rothman of Farmingdale; a sister, Joan Rothman of Freehold; a granddaughter and her husband; and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services were held at Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Congregation Agudath Achim Cemetery, Freehold Township.
