Obituaries Herbert L. White

Mr. White, 88, of Freehold died Oct. 17 at Monmouth Crossing, Freehold Township. Born in Freehold, he was a lifelong resident. From 1945 until his retirement in 1977, he was a machine operator at U.S. Naval Weapons Station Earle, Colts Neck. From 1935-45 he was employed as an office clerk for the A&M Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold. He had been a member of the First United Methodist Church, Freehold, since 1926 where he served as assistant head usher since 1950. He was a 1934 graduate of Freehold High School. In the early ’30s he was an assistant scoutmaster of Boy Scout Pack No. 83. He was predeceased by his father, Henry White, in 1949, and his mother, Hazel Anderson White, in 1994. Surviving are two aunts, Josephine Huber of Jackson and Leona Conover of Brick; and several cousins. Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church, 91 W. Main St., Freehold, with the Rev. Myrna Bethke officiating. Interment followed at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.

Timothy Patrick Sterling

Mr. Sterling, 57, of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, died Oct. 18 at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, Red Bank. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident of West Keansburg. Mr. Sterling was a dock builder at union Local No. 1456, New York City, where he was employed 35 years before retiring. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Michele DeVirgilio Sterling; a daughter, Dena Sterling of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown; a son, Ryan Sterling of West Keansburg; two brothers, Rex A. Sterling of Florida and William H. Sterling of Lakewood; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg, followed by entombment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charage of arrangements.

Roberta Mills

Mrs. Mills, 82, of Howell, died Oct. 15 at home. Born in Barrett Township, Pa., she had lived in New York before moving to Howell in 1946, and was a member of Rosie the Riveter of New Jersey. Until her retirement in 2002, for 20 years, she was a toll collector for the state of New Jersey at Allaire State Park, Wall. Prior to that, for 10 years, she was a school bus driver for the Freehold Regional School District. She is survived by a son, Eugene D. Mills of Jackson; a daughter, Marilyn M. Krokowsky of Farmingdale; a sister, Mildred Buzzard of Delaware Water Gap, Pa.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A funeral service was held at the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell, with the Rev. Harvey Kelley officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Farmingdale.

Patricia Curialle

Mrs. Curialle, 35, of Freehold, died Oct. 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Louisiana, she resided in Manalapan before moving to Freehold in 1978. Until 2002, she was employed as a deputy tax assessor for the township of Manalapan. She was a member of the Kaos team of the Freehold Area women’s softball league. She was also a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. She was predeceased by her mother, Shirley McCawley. Surviving are her husband, Michael; two sons, Michael J. Jr. and Dylan J., at home; her father, Thomas A. McCawley of Howell; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Michael and Noel McCawley of Florida, Timothy and Valerie McCawley of Middletown, Matthew and Suzanne McCawley of Jackson, and John and Thomas McCawley, both of Matawan; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathleen and John Lockwood of Millstone and Susan and Gerry Henderson of Manalapan; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. Cremation was private, with Freeman Funeral Home, Manalapan, in charge of arrangements.
