Boy Scout troop gives back to the community
Boy Scout Troop 34 of Jackson volunteered eight hours of community service March 24. Trading their Scout uniforms for more practical work clothes and gloves, the boys cleaned up trash and debris from the park-and-ride grounds on Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Jackson. They also repainted a storage shed and completely refurbished a flagpole on the grounds of the Central New Jersey Italian American Club off County Line Road. Scoutmaster John Convery coordinated the activities.
On the evening of March 27, Troop 34 conducted a flag ceremony at that site where a new American flag was donated to the Italian American Club and hoisted up for the very first time. Troop 34 has been in existence for 28 years and is sponsored by the Italian American Club.
