UPPER FREEHOLD — The Upper Freehold Regional School Board of Education convened a special session June 3 to award contracts in connection with the construction/renovation project that is about to get under way in the Upper Freehold schools.
Following the recommendation of Faridy, Veisz, and Fraytak, the architectural firm involved in planning the $19.6 million project, a contract was awarded to Architectural Window Manufacturing Corp., at a lump sum bid amount of $295,400, for window replacement work at the Elementary/Middle School.
Also recommended and approved was the bid submitted by American Athletic Courts Inc., for track reconstruction, outdoor bleachers, irrigation, and fence replacement work at Allentown High School. The total amount of the contract award is $541,500.

Staff Writer replacement, in a previously awarded contract, said Dr. Robert Connelly.
Connelly also expressed optimism that scheduling of work, in connection with the new awards, will fall into place quickly.
The $19.6 million project, which voters passed by a large margin in both Allentown and Upper Freehold through a December referendum, is expected to wrap up before the start of the 2003-04 school year.
Of the $19.6 million total, about $13.7 million will be funded by taxpayers, with the remaining funds for the construction project contributed by the state.
Additions to the high school and the annex building are also planned under the project.
