Area residents graduate from fire academy

The Monmouth County Fire Academy in Howell graduated 72 volunteers from Firefighter 1 classes No. 75 and No. 76 on May 28, including the following local residents: Kyle A. Latham, Christopher Anderson, Jason Barritta, Andrew A. Dookie, John J. Gilgannon III, Michael Hubert and William Patelis, all of Howell; and Robert Migliore of Jackson.

The Firefighter I graduates attended weekend classes at the academy and completed more than 130 hours of course work. They received training in rescue, fire extinguishment, hazardous materials response, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), electrical safety, and the care of hoses and other equipment. Each firefighter was awarded a certificate of course completion by Monmouth County Freeholder William Barham, county Fire Marshall Timothy Smith and William Itinger, chief training officer at the academy.
