Library concert celebrates United Nations Day

  • Eranga and Prianga, a singing duo from New York, will perform at the Jackson library on Oct. 23 at 11:30 a.m., and at the Lakewood library at 2 p.m. on the same day. The concert is in honor of United Nations Day. The couple, originally from Sri Lanka, is known worldwide for their complex vocal arrangements and sublime harmony. They have entertained audiences throughout Europe and Asia, as well as in movies and commercials in the United States. Their program of international songs ranges from an African love song to Zorba the Greek. It also includes Calypso, American rhythm and blues, Italian ballads, Hawaiian Island melodies, Spanish gypsy music and Hebrew legends. Details: (732) 928-4400.
  • Holiday shopping night

    will benefit gift auction

    A Holiday Shopping Night will take place Oct. 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Veronica School’s gymnasium, 4219 Route 9 north, Howell. All proceeds will benefit the gift auction planned for April 8. Hosted by the school’s PTA, the theme of this year’s gift auction will be “A Night Out on the Town.”

    Merchants at the Holiday Shopping Night will include Avon, Creative Mem-ories, Discovery Toys, Doodles 4U, Home and Garden, Home Interiors, Kingdom Treasures, Longenberger Baskets, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Pampered Chef, Party Lite, Purely Gourmet, Southern Living and Tupperware.
