H.S. district will host college and career fair

The Freehold Regional High School District will hold its annual College and Career Fair on Oct. 28 from 6-9 p.m. at Manalapan High School.

Attendance at the fair will be limited to FRHSD students who are in grades 10, 11, and 12, said Ilse Whisner, public information coordinator.

Due to limited parking at Manalapan, students must park at their regular high school and ride a shuttle bus to Manal-apan. Shuttle buses will leave Colts Neck, Freehold, Freehold Township, Howell and Marlboro high schools every 30 minutes, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. The buses will depart Manalapan for the return trip every 30 minutes between 6-9 p.m.

“This college fair is an excellent opportunity for students and parents to meet with college representatives and to find out about different post-secondary education programs,” Superintendent of Schools James Wasser said.

Resident non-public high school students may obtain tickets at their local high school guidance service office beginning on Oct. 20. Proof of residence and grade level will be required.

“The FRHSD runs one of the largest college fairs in the county,” Wasser said. “Because we are such a large district, we attract a large number of state and national colleges and universities.”

Representatives from more than 250 colleges, post-secondary schools and the armed forces will offer information on programs of study, admission requirements, tuition expenses and campus life.

Participating schools will include American University, Boston University, Brandeis University, Brookdale Com-munity College, Colgate University, Col-umbia University, Cornell University, The College of New Jersey, Duke Uni-versity, George Washington University, Johnson and Wales University, Rutgers University, and the universities of Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts and Michigan.

Representatives of trade schools will include Berkeley College, Bon Secours and Canterbury School of Nursing, Charles E. Gregory School of Nursing, Chubb Institute, Cittone Institute, Concorde School of Hair Design, Dela-ware College of Art and Design, duCret School of Art, Laboratory Institute of Merchandising, and the New England Culinary Institute.

Also attending will be representatives from the United States Naval Academy and the U.S. Air Force, Army, Marines and Navy.
