Water line to replace planned wells

JACKSON — Construction of JRJ Properties’ 94-acre Megan’s Run development is slated to begin in the spring of 2003, according to attorney Ray Shea, who represents the development firm.

At the Aug. 13 meeting of the Planning Board, approval was granted for an extension of the developer’s original application to build homes on East Veterans Highway and Grand Boulevard, pending a decision on an upcoming application to increase the number of homes from 49 to 116.

"Jackson wanted a dry water line and an individual well for each home," Shea said. "JRJ Properties instead decided to have the water brought in by 4,000 feet of water line from West Lake, an active adult community down by Butterfly Road."

Shea said the cost of bringing in the water from the Jackson Township Municipal Utilities Authority was deemed by JRJ Properties to be less expensive in the long run than installing dry lines and an individual well for each home.

"The water is more expensive when it comes from the utility company," said Shea, "but it will be less expensive than the cost of installing the dry lines and wells."

In place of the proposed septic tanks, sanitary sewers will serve the homes.

Shea also said that a certificate of filing has been issued by the New Jersey Pinelands Commission.

"Tree and road clearance will begin in the spring of 2003 and hopefully the foundations and framing of the homes will go up in the fall of that year," he said.
