JOHN J. PORACKY, 81, of Middletown died Sept. 22 at Lenox Hill Hospital, N.Y. Born in Alecia, Pa., he previously lived in Newark and moved to Middletown 39 years ago. He was a retired safety engineer for Westinghouse Elevator Corp., Jersey City, for 40 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was also a past member of the Holy Name Society of Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Jersey City. He served with the U.S. Marines during World War II, having attained the rank of corporal. He was also involved with the landings of Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. He was a baseball coach with the Middletown Youth Athletic Association during the 1960s, and a past member of the Sokols-Slovak Gymnastic Union. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian Poracky, in 1994. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis J. and Kathleen M. Poracky of Middletown, and J. Donald and Janice Poracky of Ramsey; two daughters and one son-in-law, Diane C. Poracky of Middletown, and Debra and Steven Kirkpatrick of Brick Township; three sisters, Bertha Amabile, Mary Liposky, both of Jersey City, and Wilma Liposky of Middletown; his brother, George Poracky of Matawan; and five grandchildren. A funeral gathering will be Sept. 26 at 9:45 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
ROBERT D. ADAMS, 49, of Holmdel died Sept. 23 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Middletown prior to moving to Holmdel five years ago. He was a civil engineer for Hillcrest Paving, Maplewood, the past four years. He was a member, deacon, and Confirmation class teacher at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Middletown. He was predeceased by his father, Robert H. Adams; and his brother, Richard J. Adams in 1990. He is survived by his wife of four years, Susan VanZee Adams of Holmdel; his son and daughter, Robert M. and Heather A. Adams, both of Holmdel; two sisters, Janet Shipton and Linda Coleman, both of Farmingdale; and his mother, Elizabeth Adams of Freehold. ANNA BAUMAN, 84, of the Lanoka Harbor section of Lacey died Sept. 23 at Paul Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Born in Newark, she lived in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown and South Amboy prior to moving to Lanoka Harbor in March. She was an owner with her husband of C. Bauman Upholstery, Newark and South Amboy, retiring after 36 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Bauman, in 1984. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl V. and Susan Bauman of Alexander, Va., and Robert A. and Anna Bauman of Castro Valley, Calif.; her daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Gene Drost of Toms River; two sisters, Millie Catalano of Las Vegas, Nev., and Susan DiMeglio of South Plainfield; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. KATHLEEN ANN CORLEY, 71, of the Lincroft section of Middletown died Sept. 23 at Shorrock Gardens, Brick Township. Born in New York City, she lived in Middletown for 27 years, and Lincroft for the past 17 years. She was a librarian at the Lincroft branch of the Middletown Township Library for 20 years, retiring in 1998. Prior to that she was a clerk with the Middletown Township Police Department. She was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft, and a former member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Her hobbies included spending time with her grandchildren, reading, dancing and enjoying the beach. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, John Gittens. She is survived by her husband, Francis J. EDWARD PORTER FELT, 41, of Matawan suffered an untimely death Sept. 11 as the result of the hijacked jet crash in Pennsylvania. Born in Utica, N.Y., he resided in Matawan the past 20 years. He was a computer engineer for BEA Systems, and was en route to San Francisco on a business trip. He was a devout member of the Matawan United Methodist Church. He received his degrees from Colgate University, Hamilton, N.Y., and Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. He was the devoted son of the late Ernest Porter Felt and Shirley Atkinson Felt of New Hartford, N.Y. He is survived by his wife Sandra Valdez Felt and two daughters, Adrienne and Kathryn Felt, all of Matawan; two brothers, Larry Felt of Syracuse, N.Y., and Gordon Felt of Remsen, N.Y.; three brothers and five sisters-in-law; five nieces; and four nephews. A memorial service was held Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Matawan United Methodist Church. LOUIS J. MINERVINO, 54, of Middletown died Sept. 11 in the tragedy at the World Trade Center, New York City. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he lived there before moving to Middletown 19 years ago. He was a CPA and senior vice president for Marsh USA Inc., World Trade Center, N.Y., the past year. Prior to that, he was a controller for 21 years at Guy Carpenter Inc., N.Y. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was a graduate of St. John’s University, Brooklyn, N.Y., where he was president of the Delta Psi Upsilon fraternity in 1968. He was predeceased by his father, Fred Minervino. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Ryan Minervino of Middletown; his mother, Estella Marie Minervino of Staten Island; two daughters, Laina Minervino and Marisa Minervino, both of Middletown; his father-in-law, Thomas Ryan of Middletown; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. MATTHEW M. PICERNO, 44, of Holmdel perished Sept. 11 in the tragedy at the World Trade Center, New York City. He was born and grew up in Jersey City. He was a limited partner and a municipal bond broker for Cantor Fitzgerald, New York City. He received his associate’s degree from Taylor Business Institute and began his career on Wall Street working from 1985-95 for Titus and Donnelly. He and his wife Petrina opened the Jersey City Bacchus School of Wine in 1999. A devoted parent, he always focused on his greatest supporters, his family, and coached many children in numerous sports with the Holmdel Youth Athletic Association. He was also a "Dancing Dad" at his daughter’s dance school. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Patricia Brandoff Picerno, in 1986. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Petrina Picerno; two sons, Anthony and Matthew, and his daughter Francesca, all of Holmdel; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Meluso of Holmdel; many loving cousins; several aunts and uncles; and numerous great friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment was at Holmdel Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Matthew M. PATRICK ALOYSIUS HOEY, 53, of Middletown died Sept. 11 in the tragedy at the World Trade Center, New York City. Born in Englewood, he resided in Middletown for the past 24 years. He was an executive manager of tunnels, bridges and terminals for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New York City, for 31 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was Knight of the Year 1984-85, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Vincent T. Lombardi Council, Leonardo section of Middletown. He was also a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers; and past president of the Mater Dei High School PTA, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He received his degree in civil engineering from Newark College of Engineering. He was predeceased by his father, John V. Hoey Jr., in 1983. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Eileen Keys Hoey of Middletown; his mother, Lucille Hoey of Ramsey; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Brian P. Hoey of Elkridge, Md., Robert and Rebecca E. Hoey of Ashburn, Va., and Michael T. Hoey of Hoboken; a daughter, Sharon M. Hoey of Middletown; two brothers, John V. ALFRED R. GULLOTTA, 84, of the New Monmouth section of Middletown died Sept. 18 at home. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., prior to moving to New Monmouth 26 years ago. He was a production manager for Patty O’Neil Fashions, New York City, retiring in 1987. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, New Monmouth. He served with the U.S. Army as a 1st sergeant in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and received the Silver Star. His hobbies included artwork and sculpture, gardening, dancing and music. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy DeVincenzo Gullotta of New Monmouth; two daughters, Cynthia G. Portera of Oceanport, and Adriane Gullotta-Gaell of Rumson; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Patrick McGavin, in 1964.
