Halloween parade in Keyport set for Oct. 27

Keyport’s PBA Local 223, Volunteer Fire Department and Volunteer First Aid Squad will sponsor the Keyport Emergency Services Halloween Parade at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 27.

Parade participants will meet at 11 a.m. at Fireman’s Park at West Front Street and American Legion Drive in Keyport. The parade will continue to Keyport Central School, where costume and float judging will commence at noon.

Children’s costumes will be judged in four age groups — 0-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 years — in five categories: prettiest, scariest, funniest, most original and using two or more characters. First- and second-place winners in each age group and costume category will receive a $25 or $15 Toys R Us gift card. All firstplace winners will be eligible to compete for the “Best Overall” category and win an additional $25 gift card.

Candy goody bags will be given to all children participating.

Children age 14 and older and adults can compete for $25 or $15 cash prizes for costumes. In addition, $50 or $25 prizes will be awarded to family/group and float categories.

Refreshments and snacks will be served. Music will be provided by a DJ, and the Perna Dance Center Halloween Troupe will make a special guest appearance.
