Two teens charged in foiled robbery of Lincroft gas station

MIDDLETOWN — Two 17-year-old male juveniles were arrested on Jan. 6 when they allegedly attempted to rob a Lincroft gas station.

According to a press release from the Middletown Township Police Department, the suspects are from Colts Neck and Holmdel.

“Police say the pair were wearing ski masks and were armed with a hammer and a B.B. handgun when they attempted to rob the station at approximately 8 p.m.,” the press release states.

The gas station attendant locked himself in a kiosk and refused to let them in before the suspects fled the scene.

“The pair was observed running from the area and getting into a white van. The description of the van was given to sur- rounding police agencies and was located by Brookdale Community College Police Officers Craig Iacouzzi and Gabriel Campan a short while later,” the press release states .

The pair was arrested by MTPD Detective Daniel Simon and charged with robbery, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, unlawful possession of a weapon and conspiracy.

They are being held at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Facility.
