Art Alliance hosts Townsend Award Exhibit

 “Apricots” by Sangita Phadke “Apricots” by Sangita Phadke The themes of this year’s Jean Townsend Award Exhibit at the Art Alliance of Monmouth County are “Double Take” and “Morning, Noon or Night.” This show will be composed of selected works from members of the Art Alliance. One $100 and two $50 prizes will be awarded at the opening on March 5.

An opening reception will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Art Alliance, located at 33 Monmouth St. in Red Bank.

The window artist will be Sangita Phadke, a leading pastel artist specializing in largerthan life fruits, vegetables and flowers. As a self-taught artist, she has developed her realistic style through the experimentation of color and an obsession with detail.

Phadke began her art career in 2007. Since then, she has been the recipient of more than 60 awards and her paintings hang in public and private collections.

She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the International Association of Pastel Societies Master Circle in 2010.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

TheArtAlliance is an all-volunteer, co-op gallery dedicated to providing exhibition and studio space for area artists. Membership is open to all, artist and non-artists, amateur and professional. All media are represented. Learn more at www.artallianceofmonmouth.org.
