MARY POLLOCK, 62, of Matawan died March 24 at Barbara E. Cheng Memorial Hospice, Edison. Born in Coatbridge, Scotland, she resided in New York City and Queens, N.Y., prior to moving to Matawan 35 years ago. She was a senior customer service representative with Summit/Fleet Bank, Freehold. Prior to that, she was assistant bank manager at United Jersey Bank, Clark, for 16 years. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Cliffwood Fire Department, and of the Matawan Pop Warner. She was predeceased by her father, Daniel McGeough. She is survived by her mother, Charlotte McGeough of Coatbridge, Scotland; two sons, Robert Pollock of Belmar, and Christopher Pollock of Matawan; five brothers, Thomas, Daniel, James and John McGeough, all of Coatbridge, and John McGeough of Glasgow, Scotland; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be March 27 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A funeral service will be March 28 (time to be announced). Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport. WILLIAM SHORTRIDGE, 81, of Aberdeen died March 15 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Sioux Falls, S.D., he lived in Burlington, and Pottstown, Pa., prior to moving to Aberdeen four years ago. He was a retired plant manager for Amstead Industries, Florence, for four years. Prior to that, he worked for Clow Industries, Pottstown, Pa., for 17 years. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He attended Christ Episcopal Church, Middletown, and formerly attended Hightown First Baptist Church, Matawan. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Shortridge of Aberdeen; his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Coffin of Aberdeen; and his grandson, William Coffin. A funeral service was held at Christ Episcopal Church, Middletown.

EVELYN DALLMER, 90, of Staten Island, N.Y., died March 16 at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel. Born in Boston, she resided there until moving to Staten Island. She was employed by Temple Israel, Staten Island, for 25 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Oakwood Heights Community Church, Staten Island. She was predeceased by her husband, Rolf Dallmer in 1993. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Cartmell of Aberdeen, and Lois Emsweller of Fort Pierce, Fla.; her son, Douglas Dallmer of Naperville, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at First Presbyterian Church, Matawan.

PATRICIA A. SAFKA, 60, of Manalapan died March 18 in Aberdeen. Born in Keyport, she had lived there and in Old Bridge before moving to Manalapan two years ago. She was the owner and operator of All About Bows, Aberdeen, with her niece and business partner, Elizabeth Purcell, for four years. She was also known as the "Ribbon Lady." She was predeceased by a brother, James Warnock. She is survived by her husband, Fred M.; two stepdaughters, Melanie Shickirk of Florida and Stephanie Safka of Lake George, N.Y.; a brother, Leon Warnock of Jackson; a sister, Audrey Vaughn of Keyport; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902-4301.

THEODORE C. NEBUS SR., 83, of Keyport died March 19 at home. Born in South Amboy, he resided there until moving to Keyport 61 years ago. He was a research assistant for DuPont Inc. for 48 years, retiring in 1986. He was also an assistant for 35 years at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. He served with the U.S. Army and Air Corps during World War II. He was a communicant of, Extraordinary Minister, and usher at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. He was also a member of St. Joseph’s Holy Name Society and St. Vincent DePaul group, and a member of the Nocturnal Adoration, Red Bank. He is survived by his wife, Helen Kearney Nebus of Keyport; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Theodore C. Nebus Jr. of Neptune, and Ronald and Kathy Nebus of Marietta, Ga.; his sister, Mary Zrebic of South Amboy; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

DOMINICK BRISCESE, 93, of Matawan died March 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a lifelong Matawan resident. He was a building operator for DuPont Inc., Parlin, for 49 years, retiring in 1974. He was a prize fighter in the lightweight class during his youth, known as "Rocky" in the state of New Jersey. He was a member of the 25-Year Club at DuPont. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Briscese, in 2001; and two brothers, Mauro Briscese in 1961, and Michael Briscese in 1997. He is survived by two sons, Rocco Briscese of Wolcott, N.Y., and Anthony Briscese of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet; two sisters, Mary "Pat" Geiger of Keyport, and Mary Ann Fetta of Sun City, Fla.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. IRENE L. SANTORELLI, 69, of Middletown died March 21 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Newark, she lived in Vailsburg and Newark prior to moving to Middletown 14 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, her son, and her daughter, Anthony Santorelli, Anthony Santorelli Jr. and Julia Conocchioli, all of Middletown; three sisters, Rosalie Bell of Florida, Frances Smolinski of Howell, and Victoria Caputo of Middletown; her brother, Philip Caputo of Essex Fells; and four grandchildren. A funeral liturgy as offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Entombment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

ARTHUR P. CHRISTIE, 79, of Matawan died March 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Gerritsen Beach, N.Y., prior to moving to the Matawan and Old Bridge area seven years ago. He was the owner of Christie Overhead Door Corp., Brooklyn, for 48 years, retiring in 1994. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of the Good Sam Club, Porsche Club of America, and Motor Coach Club of America. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Christie in 1995. He is survived by his longtime companion, Mary A. Oty of Matawan; his son, Robert Christie of Centerville, Ohio; two daughters, Patricia Valentino and June Gustavson, both of Laurel, Md.; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Irene Christie of Garden City, N.Y.; two stepdaughters; one stepson; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Interment was at Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.

JANET R. BORST, 83, of Spotswood died March 18 at home. Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Cliffwood Beach before moving to Spotswood 23 years ago. She was supervisor of voter registration for the Middlesex County Board of Education for 30 years before her retirement in 1988. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald L., in 1986. Surviving are three sons, James of Hazlet, Douglas of Old Bridge, and Richard of Helmetta; a daughter, Janet Wolber of Sayreville; a sister, Eleanor Bushman of Cliffwood Beach; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
