Mr. Colavechio, 78, of Red Bank, died Jan. 3, 2012. He served in the U.S. Navy for 32 years, which included three tours in Vietnam, and earned numerous awards and medals. After his military retirement, Mr. Colavechio worked as a Champus/ Tri Care coordinator at Fort Monmouth and served as treasurer of COURAGE. He was a member of the Interscholastic Athletic Association from 1963, and umpired at local football, softball and basketball games. He was also an active member of the Fleet Reserved Association, Branch 308, of Colts Neck. Mr. Colavechio is survived by a brother, Robert “Cal” Colavechio; a sister-in–law, Linda; a nephew, Robert J. Colavechio; two aunts, Marge Kasyan and Laura Durovsik; and numerous cousins and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Church, Red Bank. He was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were under the direction of the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank.
