Mr. Walker, formerly of Lincroft and more recently of Upper St. Clair, Pa., died July 22, 2011, at Marian Manor in Green Tree, Pa. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and later served as a first staff sergeant in the New Jersey National Guard. Mr. Walker retired after 30 years with New Jersey Bell Telephone. He was a past master and lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He also organized a Voice of Democracy writing competition in local grade schools. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Bernice (Snellen) Walker; a sister, Jean Jefferds; and a brother, Donald Walker. Mr. Walker is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Daniel Grealish, with whom he lived for the past seven years, of Upper St. Clair, Pa.; two grandchildren; a sister, Lee Weber of Shrewsbury; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. July 29 at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. July 30 at the Presbyterian Church at Shrewsbury, 352 SycamoreAve. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
