Mr. Kelly, 84, a longtime resident of Middletown, died July 18, 2011, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Kelly retired in 1998 from Stoltz-Nielson Inc., Perth Amboy, as an engineer and safety manager. He was an active firefighter for the Middletown Township Fire Department for the last 53 years, serving as chief from 1976 to 1980. Mr. Kelly was preceded in death on June 3, 2011, by his wife of 57 years, Ethel M. Kelly. Surviving are four daughters, Darlene and her husband, James Filan, Patricia and her husband, Robert Thaler, Susan Kelly, and Cathleen and her husband, Stephen Cottrell; a son, Daniel and his wife, Megan Kelly; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Middletown. Burial followed at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
