Lori Frederick, Hazlet, a registered nurse at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, recently won a Nursing Excellence in Caring Award at the medical center’s annual nursing awards program held in honor of National Nurses Week. The hospital annually selects winners from a pool of nominees chosen by peers. The award is presented to two nurses for bedside excellence that is invaluable to the nursing staff at Monmouth.
The center’s department of patient care services also announced the winners of its essay contest, with local winners Debra Weyhknecht, first place, and Vilma Palisoc, third place. Both are registered nurses and residents of Middletown. Winners and contestants submitted an original essay, poem or short story that best described the nurse’s feelings and pride in the professional practice of nursing.
Brookdale Public Radio 90.5 The Night has announced the adoption of digital HD radio technology, which may be enjoyed by listeners with HD radio-compatible receivers. In addition to better sound, the station will also transmit information scrolled as text on HD Radio receiver displays such as artists’ names and song titles, traffic reports, and news headlines. The nonprofit station is headed by Tom Brennan, station manager.
