GERALDINE JEAN CRAPARO, 70, of Middletown died Aug. 18 at home. Born in Newark, she lived in the Belford section of Middletown and East Keansburg prior to moving to Middletown. She was a crossing guard for the Middletown school system for several years. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, North Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, William Craparo of Middletown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Ann Craparo of Middletown, and Ruth and Christopher Andersen of the New Monmouth section of Middletown; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be Aug. 21 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be Aug. 22 at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be offered Aug. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

JERRY J. MONACO, 53, of Middletown died Aug. 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived there until moving to Middletown 26 years ago. He was a senior client services representative at Automatic Data Processing, Jersey City, the past 18 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was an avid basketball player and coach. He coached and refereed the St. Mary’s Athletic Association basketball team, as well as the Middletown Youth Athletic Association basketball team. He was predeceased by his father, Jerry Monaco; and his mother, Josephine Rossi. He is survived by his wife, Angela Trezza Monaco of Middletown; his son, Jerry Thomas Monaco of Middletown; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Roseanne Monaco, and Dennis and JoAnn Monaco, all of Middletown; his parents-in-law, Thomas and Angela Trezza of Brooklyn; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Aug. 21 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be Aug. 22 at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral liturgy at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

KENNETH C. VAN SCHAACK, 46, of Middletown died Aug. 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Piscataway, he lived there until moving to Middletown 21 years ago. He was the owner and operator of Middletown Driving School, and worked there for 12 years. An avid soccer player and coach, he served as an associate national staff instructor at the NSCAA the past eight years, and was a soccer coach at Middletown High School South until 2000. He also coached soccer teams at Raritan High School, Hazlet; Monmouth University, W. Long Branch; Shore Regional High School, West Long Branch; and Mater Dei High School, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Carolyn Wernstedt Van Schaack of Middletown; his son, Eric C. Van Schaack of Middletown; his daughter, Allison K. Van Schaack of Middletown; his sister, Karen L. Nobbs of Neshanic Station; his mother, Catherine Rauf of Manchester. Visitation will be Aug. 21 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo section of Middletown. STELLA M. DOYLE WENTWORTH, 86, of Middletown died Aug. 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in McKenzie County, N.D., she lived in Matawan, Hazlet and the Belford section of Middletown prior to moving to Middletown five years ago. She was a member of the Belford United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Monmouth County Chapter No. 251, Eastern Star, Atlantic Highlands. She was predeceased by her husband, Arnold Wentworth in 1974. She is survived by her daughter, Diana J. Wentworth of Middletown; two sons, Wayne R. Wentworth of Port Norris, and Arnold R. Wentworth of Whiting; her sister, Essie Heidel of Middletown; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral gathering will be Aug. 21 at 9:30 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Belford United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
