Monmouth Park Racetrack, Oceanport, will host the 2000 Haskell Invitational on Aug. 6. Gates open at 10:30 a.m., and the first race is 12:30 p.m.
The Haskell, which has the distinction of being the richest invitational racing event, has a "purse" in excess of $1 million, and is the centerpiece of Monmouth Park’s summer season.
Named for the late president of the park, Amory L. Haskell, it draws 3-year-old thoroughbreds and is considered one of the most prestigious thoroughbred events in North America.
