KEYPORT — The Keyport Farmers Market is in full swing with some new additions.
In addition to Jersey-grown, handpicked fresh produce, the market features fresh cheeses and breads. The farmers market is held every Thursday from 1 p.m. until sellout, at the mini-park on West Front Street.
Keyport Borough Clerk Valerie Heilweil has volunteered to distribute the Monmouth County Farmers Market food vouchers for eligible seniors.
The clerk will be processing applications in the near future. Once approved, seniors will receive $30 worth of six $5 checks that can be spent at the farmers market.
Both Hauser Hill Farms and C&M Produce will accept the vouchers.
Seniors who do not live in Keyport and are interested in the food vouchers should contact their local municipality or the Monmouth County Office on Aging.
The farmers at the market always have a wide selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers.
The market will run through October, and as the summer changes into fall, the market will have a wide variety of mums, corn stalks, pumpkins and other seasonal specialties. For more information on the Keyport Farmers Market, call 732-739-5138.
