‘Bowling for Biscuits’ July 29 in Aberdeen

“Bowling for Biscuits” will be held July 29 at 2 p.m. at Strathmore Lanes, 1061-G Route 34 north, Aberdeen.

The event is a fundraiser for Castle of Dreams Animal Rescue. There will be prizes and trophies for the best bowlers. Attendees brining a dog toy or treat will receive a free gift (while supplies last). Cost is $15 per bowler, which covers three games of bowling, free shoes, free popcorn and a pitcher of soda per lane. Advanced ticket sales are encouraged. Snack bar discounts also available

Items needed for kits for victims of violence

The Bayshore Woman’s Club of Matawan is sponsoring a Make a Difference Day project and is collecting first-night kits for victims of domestic violence.

New items needed are women’s flannel or sweat pants in sizes medium, large or extra large; oversized T-shirts in large or extra large; underwear in size medium, large and extra large; and socks with treads. Also needed are full-size toiletry-bag items such as shampoo, body lotion, baby powder, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and comb/brush. Also needed are $5 prepaid telephone calling cards. The items will be collected at the club’s building, 199 Jackson St., Matawan, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
