Spirits in the Night, a Bruce Springsteen interest club at Holmdel High School will be addressed by author Bob Crane April 21 at 7 p.m. at the high school’s auditorium at 36 Crawford’s Corner Road.
Crane is the author of “A Place to Stand: A Guide to Bruce Springsteen’s Sense of Place,” which catalogs the locales of the singer’s lyrics. Spirits in the Night uses Springsteen’s lyrics and music as a teaching tool for both the language arts and social sciences. It meets one night a month. Sports card show at firehouse April 24
Holmdel Fire Company No. 1, Main Street, will hold a sports card show April 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The free show will also feature vintage cards, memorabilia, autographs, figurines and supplies.

‘God and Medicine’ at Holmdel church May 1
Holmdel Community Church, 40 Main St., will presents “God and Medicine” May 1 at 11:30 a.m.
The talk will cover issues such as removing medical care, and deciding on appropriate medical interventions from a Christian perspective. It will also present what methods are legal in New Jersey. Living will documents will be available. Attendees may also get blood pressure screenings done.
The church will hold a garage sale May 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A coffeehouse concert featuring the church’s Finn Band will be May 7 at 6 p.m. and feature country and gospel music. There will be coffee or cappuccino, snacks and finger food served. A free-will offering will be taken.
A “Ministries Fair” will be May 15 at 11 a.m. following morning worship. The fair will feature booths and presentations by church leaders, and information about the church’s outreach and mission programs, educational ministries and bible study groups, craft programs, Sunday school, and social events. Church members will sort clothing May 18 at 6 p.m. for its Bridges trip to New York City May 20. Volunteers are welcome to participate in sorting. Members are also preparing bag suppers Thursdays before the Bridges trips.
