‘Chasing Yesterday’ to debut at library

MARLBORO — The Marlboro Public Library, Wyncrest Road, will host the Monmouth County premiere of a movie that was filmed in the county.

“Chasing Yesterday,” a film by former Marlboro resident Joe Pernice, will be shown at 1 p.m. Nov. 7.

The film will be followed by a discussion with stars Josh Flitter and Courtney Baxter, according to a press release from the library.

“Chasing Yesterday” is a coming-of-age story about a washed up 20-something, the onetime hometown hero and track star who is convinced by a local sweetheart to run a marathon and get his life back on track.

“Chasing Yesterday” was filmed entirely in Monmouth County and features scenes at locations such as the Marlboro Public Library, the Manalapan Diner, Marlboro High School and Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, where Pernice went to high school.

“Chasing Yesterday” was awarded the Rising Star Award at the 2015 Canada International Film Festival, was named “Best Home Grown Feature” at the 2015 Garden State Film Festival and received the “Director’s Award” at the North Carolina Film Awards competition, according to the press release.
