Book sale supports AAUW

Thousands of books will be available for purchase when the Freehold branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) hosts its annual book sale at the First United Methodist Church, 91 W. Main St., Freehold, from June 24-27.

The book sale will have titles in every genre — including romance, science fiction, history, psychology, biographies, nature, hobbies, mystery and crime, and self-help. The sale will also feature books for young readers.

Residents of all communities are invited to stop by the air conditioned church and browse the selection.

AAUW member Deidre McNamara said, “The proceeds of our sale support scholarships to an outstanding senior female in each of the six Freehold Regional High School District schools and women over the age of 25 who are returning to college to pursue their undergraduate studies and graduate degrees.”

On June 24, a preview of the book sale will be held from 1-8 p.m. Admission to the preview is $10.

Admission is free at all other times. The book sale will also be held on June 25-26 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on June 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On June 27, a bag of books can be purchased for $5.

Most books will sell for between 50 cents and $1.50; children’s books will sell for between 25 cents and $1; and specialty books, such as coffee table books and books that are more than 50 years old, will be priced a bit higher.
